Farm Succession Planning March 6, 2025 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at the Richland Campus, 1100 Highway 14 West, in Melvill Hall (Administration Building) the Pippin Center

In this workshop, Joy Kirkpatrick and Kelly Wilfert, both Extension Farm Management Outreach Specialists, will provide a framework to help farms to identify legal risks in farm succession and estate planning and to begin those first conversations around succession planning. This workshop is free however, reservations are appreciated. We will accommodate walk-ins on the day of the workshop where possible. Land Rental, Pasture Rental, and Building Agreements

Ag Lease 101 is a great way to get started creating a lease that works for landowners and land operators. The website offers publications, forms and worksheets to guide on how to create leases and draft/example lease forms to use for pasture, cropland, buildings/livestock facilities, purchasing/leasing farm equipment, livestock rentals.  It is a product of the North Central Farm Management Extension Committee (NCFMEC).

Wisconsin Agricultural Land Prices 2024 End of Year Report

Wisconsin Agricultural Land Prices Report gives a State level overview of the average price of agriculture land sold in Wisconsin and the number of sales each year by county 2012-2024.  A graph also shows Wisconsin agriculture land values and rental rates for years 2012-2024..


Tractor Safety

The Wisconsin Youth Tractor & Machinery Safety Certification Program is designed to meet requirements established by the US Department of Labor, pertaining to special provisions made for the employment of youth ages 14-15 on farms not operated by their parents.  In addition, Wisconsin Act 455 provides specific provisions for tractor operation by 12-13 year olds. 


Resilient Farms and Families: Responding to Stress

The ongoing economic conditions in agriculture are taking a toll on farm families and their rural communities. The associated chronic stress is also impacting mental and physical well-being, relationships, and decision-making. Extension helps farmers, families, businesses, and communities remain resilient by learning how to manage stress and use planning tools to make sound decisions and create a road-map for the future.
